As soon as I finished Book 1 I downloaded Book 2 - couldn't wait to find out what happened next. Book 2 did not disappoint - just as Book 1, I couldn't put it down and immediately downloaded Book 3 when I was finished. It was one of those books that made me feel as if I was right in the middle of the story!

Troubled Waters The Lake Series Book 2 edition by AnnaLisa Grant Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

There is just enough twists and turns to keep you interested but not completely wanting to read all at one time. This is the 2nd book in the series so the characters are still developing and finding parts of themselves. It is first a love story, with a lot of questions about weather they will survive all the things thrown at them. The main couple does try to focus on each other a lot, and tries their best to find normalcy in their relationship. The writer does very well to show how the couple helps to center each other. Their is always another problem waiting to jeopardize their relationship or make life a bit more of a challenging problem.
Claire, Luke and Layla have created new lives in Florida, after being forced to leave their previous home due to threats from Gregory Meyers. As far as what happened to Will and his mother, I pretty much guessed how that was going to play out. I really didn’t like what the author did to Marcus’ character. Considering how this installment in the series ends, I guess that was the direction that had to be taken, but it was still so very sad. I enjoyed the romance between Layla and Will, most of the time. But there were times where I wanted to scream at Layla to get a grip, deal, and move on. Overall, I did enjoy the book, and the next book, Safe Harbor, is on my wish list…because I DO want to see how this tale ends.
The story of Will and Layla is an up and down roller coaster of life. Just when things are starting to get on an even Keel, someone else steps in and screws things up.These two kids overcome obstacles most of us never have to face, and how they handle it, is sometimes over the top sappy, but also proves anything can be overcome with love. The other people in Layla's life, that become family, are very likable, especially Claire.Who handles everything with dignity and grace. And Will is my hero, He stands up for what he feels is right in life and treats others fairly, even though his father tried to mold him into a man like himself, greedy, cruel and manipulative. I've read all 3 books and sometimes wondered what makes me keep flipping the pages, I guess it is the discovery of how their lives turn out. I'm at the point now, where Layla has to (pay up) to the next stranger danger and risk her life in doing so.
This trilogy of books could be read by all ages, from a teen to a grandparent, something for everyone to relate to.
This Second book of the trilogy was packed with too many people and odd circumstances to read smoothly. It seems that Layla, soon to be married to Will is all over the place. She always kisses everyone, making it difficult to feel her real love for Will (or John as he changes his name and history) as he has to go into hiding or his evil father will find that he has taken his mother and moved to a different state. The father doesn't think Layla is good enough for him to marry and thinks she is just a goldigger. They go hot and cold for quite long time and meanwhile Layla adopts her dead father's brother as her Dad and of course his wife as her new Mother. There are many more confusing facts to Layla's previous life which keeps her in a state of turmoil and days of crying. Enter about twenty more people and you have one big mishmash of a plot. It is definitely hard to read and keep up with changes of plot. If you want confusion just read Troubled Waters it lives up to it's title.
3 1/2 stars for me. This is the second book out of three and I enjoyed this one better than the first. It had a more fast paced beginning than the first book and held me captive quicker. I have to say though that the never ending twists and turns to the storyline almost become annoying and on the borderline of being ridiculous. It seems like just when one conflict has been solved another is there in its place. I love the characters of Luke, Layla Claire and Wes but have a harder time with Will. I know I should like him as the hero to the story but somehow the author hasn't sold me on him yet. I will say that the ending to this book actually had me saying "oh my God". It wasn't what I expected at all. All that being said, I enjoyed the book and yes I will read the final one as well
The reason for the three stars is that I was compelled to find out what happened where Book #1 left off. Unfortunately, as other reviewers have indicated, the repetitiveness that is a theme in the first book, continues infinitum in this book as well. Every other chapter, there is the same fluffy declaration of love between these literal teenagers (intertwined with random problems that crop up ). The random arguments that Will and Layla have seem redundant and silly (and again, repetitive). While these series have potential with the plot to be great, the characters just aren't developed enough, and the situations that arise are not believable.

I'll probably read the next book, because I've started the series. I'm hoping it will be better, but likely not.
Liked the first book in this series. This one is too much of the same, too much inside the head of an insecure teen. It began pretty well, but somewhere in the middle it bogs down and becomes almost repetitive, mundane and boring. No one here seems to have any real convictions, any real depth of character. There are some big surprises, some big questions and, though there is resolution it leaves you on a "cliff hanger" of sorts - a lead to the next book. But, sorry, I won't be getting that one. I've had enough.
