Katrin, a young Polish woman who moved to London before austerity reigned, is working long hours at the Epicure Café in order to earn enough money to bring her mother over as well. In the café she falls in love with a lecturer in film studies -- but Robin comes with a past that will complicate any future they have together. The Taste of Marmalade Single eBook Tessa McWatt Reviews
It just got started when it was suddenly over. Had I browsed the book in a book store I might have had a head's up that it was a short story.
Author is a good writer, just give us more.
Read it and you won't be sorry. Good mystery, good characters. I recommend it to all mystery lovers on or otherwise.
This was a short story. It was enjoyable in that it told the story well and the ending was pretty good.
It didn't seem to end, more like it just quit. It was as stated, only a taste of what could have been a very interesting story
McWatt has once again captured with beautiful prose the complications around belonging and not belonging -- to places and to people. Her subtle yet heart-wrenching observations can make the reader cringe, often in recognition of having experienced the same rejection, or perhaps the hesitation, to truly connect and commit with consequence. The unreal reality of Ned Time is brilliant. We have all lived in Ned Time at some point in our lives...
Had some high expectations - but the story just hung - didn't really go anywhere. I honestly got a bit bored. Finished because it was a single - short read.
Would not recommend to others.
This book was more like a short story in a magazine. It jumped around and then ended.
The character was weak and childish. Sorry, but I can't say this way an enjoyable read.
this was not my favorite book to read...Far from it. very jerky. thought after thought was introduced with no warning without even finishing the first thought. wouldn't really recommend this to one single soul.
